  • I need help! Please?

I have this once in a lifetime chance. If you can help, please message me ASAP, and I will send you information on how.:

    Dear Family and Friends:

I hope you all are doing well.  I have just completed my 5th semester of college, and am picking up as an intern at Dundee Presbyterian for the summer.  The church has many other opportunities to serve as well.

One of these opportunities is a trip to Colombia.  I was asked to go a few months ago, but turned it down due to other plans. But I woke the other day with Colombia on my heart and mind. I couldn’t shake the thought and began to read up on it.  I feel that God is placing this on my heart to serve there.

Colombia has been torn apart by conflict between the government and drug-funded paramilitary groups.  Though Roman Catholicism is the predominate religion in Colombia, Christianity is highly persecuted in the region by the paramilitary groups.

While in Colombia, the team would take part in light construction in the morning, helping with an afternoon kids club, and sharing the Gospel with the people, in both rural and urban settings.

On May 26, the team departs. Though that date is closing in quickly, I believe we can attain the funds necessary. But we can’t do it without your support, both prayerfully and financially. To be frank, this trip will literally be impossible without the support of people like you.

God bless you, thank in the advance for your support.

    In His name,

    Michael Barnes

  • Love Like Crazy

What is love? Sure some of us may be quick to answer that. What? You got a significant other, peace with your friends, family that supports you?

What would you do for those people, not thinking selfishly, but instead thinking entirely to bless them. Would you buy them something pretty, or take them out to dinner, or just spend time with them? Die for them?

I hope you can see where I'm going with this. If you can't, hold on.

Jesus. Jesus did all these things ( minus buying something pretty), but in a new way. He had dinner with the much-hated tax-collectors (Matthew 9:10-13) , He talked with the "lessers" of society (John 4: 7-31). These were people outside of His typical crew (for now).

The people Jesus met with were those with few, if any, friends. Even the disciples are curious about Jesus's actions. Why is the Savior of man dining with theives? Why is He talking to a Samaritan woman? In true Jesus fashion, He confronts taboos in a way that brings glory to God, by showing love to all of God's creation.

Greatest of these, He not only gave His life's work to these people, but also His physical life. Salvation is for these people as much as it is for you! Jesus loves them too!

Not sure were to start? Find Luke 6:20-28

    Love like Jesus did.
    Love all.
    Love sincerely.
    Love like crazy.
